The Family and Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”) provides eligible employees with up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave per year. In addition, other state and federal laws (such as the Americans with Disabilities Act) can also apply to leaves of absence. Navigating these leaves can be incredibly difficult for an employer, no matter how sophisticated it may be. Shawna Sorrell, attorney at Taft Law, will walk you through what you need to know.
Shawna is an attorney in Taft’s Labor and Employment practice group. She counsels clients on all areas of labor and employment law, including employee hiring and termination, employment agreements, personnel policies, harassment, discrimination, wage and hour issues, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and workers’ compensation.
