Robert Mauro of Nelson Stark Joins the 16th Annual Mix 107.7 Radiothon

Robert Mauro The Dayton Builder’s Exchange (DBX) is proud to   highlight the efforts of   Robert Mauro, a valued   member of the Dayton Builder’s Exchange   Board   of Directors and an employee of Nelson Stark   Company in   Dayton, OH. Robert recently   volunteered his time to support the 16th   Annual   Mix 107.7 Radiothon, benefiting Ronald McDonald   House   Charities (RMHC) Dayton.

Nelson Stark, a key contributor to the RMHC Dayton’s new building   project, donated $3,000 to the Radiothon effort. As the project manager   for the company’s plumbing systems work on the new building, Robert   has been deeply involved since the project’s inception. He shared,   “Nelson Stark was brought in early to assist the design team by   influencing the design in a way to provide maximum value to the owner. I met with the design team once a week for eight months before construction even started to help them develop a viable construction design at the best value.”

The Radiothon, presented by Wright-Patt Credit Union, is a cherished annual event designed to bring the community together to support families with critically ill and hospitalized children. This year, the event offered multiple ways for individuals and organizations to contribute, including volunteering, sponsoring, or making monetary or in-kind donations.

Adding a festive touch, RMHC Dayton partnered with local Marines and Toys for Tots for a special "Drive-Thru to Donate" initiative. Community members donated toys for children of all ages, as well as food, cleaning supplies, and stocking stuffers, which will go a long way in brightening the holidays for families in need. Toy donations are being shared between RMHC Dayton and Toys for Tots, while household and monetary contributions directly benefit the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House. In return, all donors received a fun grab bag of goodies as a small token of appreciation.

Robert’s contribution went beyond a monetary donation. He actively participated in the Radiothon, saying, “The Project Manager for Danis, Kirt Siemer, let me know of this opportunity. Nelson Stark donated $3,000 to the RMH effort, and I volunteered to help with the Radiothon. Through that process, I was asked by the RMH team to sit with the radio hosts and be interviewed. I was excited to do that and honestly, we are just proud to be part of such an important project.”

During the telethon, Robert’s role included a 30-minute interview with the radio hosts where he shared insights about the new RMHC building and Nelson Stark’s involvement. He also assisted with walk-in donations for an additional 1.5 hours, helping to engage the community and encourage contributions. Reflecting on his experience, Robert said, “It was a fun experience being part of the RMH Radiothon.”

Robert’s dedication and that of Nelson Stark underscore the spirit of giving that defines our DBX community. Their efforts, along with those of countless other volunteers and donors, help ensure that RMHC Dayton can continue its vital mission of providing comfort, care, and support to families during challenging times.

As we celebrate this season of giving, DBX encourages all members to get involved in meaningful community initiatives like the Radiothon. Together, we can make a lasting impact and bring joy to families when they need it most.
